Seamus had a house guest for the last few weeks. His name is George Braeger, he’s from the UK. Here’s what happened.
Zachery Rogers and crew have been going hard for a while now building the Charlotte scene. With Seamus overseeing the progress on this one, they knocked out a rad little spine. Pics courtesy of PhilthyFilms.com. CLICK PICS for Full Post

No matter how golden and prosperous your visions of a planned, upcoming road trip are, you have no control over what scenarios the BMX gods will toss back at you. Months after planning our excursion to Atlanta, sorting out logistics of dates and what have you, the date to leave loomed closer. Our plans were to shred the ample streets and parks and attend TK Billups’ “No Space” Jam. Of course the forecast calls for nothing but nasty rain, frigid temperatures, and maybe even some snow… Thank you BMX gods. Since everyone had already called out of work and postponed prior engagements, we put some shopping bags on our grips and loaded up. Luckily, our crew (consisting of Phil Jones, Zach Rogers, Logan Derberry, and myself) rolls with the punches and has a hell of a time, regardless of the circumstances laid before us.
Destination one was Cumming, (yep) Georgia, north of Atlanta. The recently acquired home of my brother, Conor, Cumming is dead in the epicenter of probably 6 awesome concrete parks. With wet grips and soaked seats, we arrive late Tuesday night. Shopping bags only do so much. Logan and myself drank some Lime-a-ritas. Whatever, its gonna rain tomorrow. We awoke the next day with hope and prosperity in our hearts. It wasnt raining! The ground was still wet from last night’s storms, but there was still hope. Cumming’s rains played games with our hearts all day. It would drizzle just enough to soak everything, then stop. We bit the bullet and headed to Atlanta’s only indoor training facility. THE X GAMES PARK. Though the park was pretty cool, it would have suited us better for the next Tokyo Drift movie because of how slick it was in there. If you meandered off from any sort of straight path, you were asking for an intimate meeting with the ground. However, we made do. We didn’t really have much choice, our asses were soaked from sitting on our still-wet seats. Some fellow North Carolina shredders came through the park and we rode for what seemed like 12 hours straight. I tried to learn tailwhips. Conor went higher than Simon Tabron out of the vert ramp. Zach, Phil and Logan got too tech with it, you could say it was a solid session. Once our lungs were filled with enough dust for one day we dipped in search of some shrimp sauce for Phil. Man does he love shrimp sauce. Capped the night off with some Ben and Jerry’s and passed out in some sort of strange junk food trance.

I may as well copy and paste the last paragraph, because day two was basically the same. Rain, ice cream, and more training for Summer X 2013. We darted back to the X Games park and to our surprise, there were more North Carolina shredders at the park, which was cool. Pretty sure I saw Vin Diesel drifting around too. Everyone laced more sick moves, and squared away any unfinished business from the day before. I’ve been trying to act like I can do crank arm grinds lately, and when I locked eyes on this pretty little kinked rail the day before, I knew I had to sack up. After one rib grind, one ass slide, and 2k tries later, I got the job done. Logan did a sweet no hander over the box, to no footer, to bail, to land directly on a skater who was using his skateboard and the landing as a loveseat. Luckily nobody got hurt. I guess the new style in skateboarding is to not pay attention to anyone and spend $20 to practice tre flips on the flat ground in between ramps. After two solid days of training, we graduated from the park. With guaranteed sunshine the next day, we were ready to brutalize the streets. Thanks to Brandon at the park for hooking us up.

We awoke to something we had forgotten existed, sun. We rose up early and let the sun recharge the energy that we’d been deprived of. It was still freezing, but we were ready. We headed to Atlanta in search of unique urban terrain. Unfortunately, Logan had to leave us today to handle some biz back at the home front. We stopped at Magic City for a group photo and sent Logan off on a bus. We took some glamour shots in front of the skyline and then met up with ATL locals Talem Cowart and Chris Burden. We finally had an awesome day outside, taking in the sights and cruising through downtown. Stunts were achieved. Zach especially did a bunch of sick stuff this day. I think I trained too hard the day before. As the sun fell, we pressed onward back to good ol’ Cumming. Since we’d still yet to hit any of those awesome concrete parks, we put on an extra layer and hit Conor’s local park, Fowler. You had to sacrifice feeling in your fingers, but man the park was awesome. It was good to see a ton of the locals rocking Guerra and Ezra gear. Conor was blasting airs, Phil manualled around the entire park and a pregnant girl in full camo pajamas was yelling at her scooter-riding boyfriend. Great session. I was skating around and didn’t realize that what I thought was a bank was actually a quarter pipe and I somehow rolled straight in and didn’t die. Thats a wrap. Off to the store for ice cream and beer. Have you ever tried Ben and Jerry’s Red Velvet? It’s delicious.

Back to Atlanta the next day for one final day of street exploration. We started at Lofton M.’s house, who is an awesome host with a sick house. He lives right next to a lighthouse in the hood. He guided us along the westside showing us some cool stuff. Its crazy because every spot we went to, security loved us. They couldn’t stop laughing when we jumped or did anything. Some hoodrat who stole his sisters bike and peacoat was trying to emulate us by dropping off the ledge and doing some super extended wheelies. When he started to lift his mountain bike up onto a chest-high ledge, we had to leave before our little cross dressing shredder tried to impress us any harder. We hit a dope bridge spot, everybody had fun there. Another full day of pedaling through the city. Good vibes. We capped the night by stuffing ourselves to submission with some bangin’ mexican food. Jam time tomorrow.

By this point in the trip, everyone was feeling 80 years old. We rolled out of bed casually and headed south toward Hazard County Skatepark, where TK Billups hosted the second annual “No Space” jam. I attended the jam last year and had a blast. Much to my surprise, the park was almost entirely different and even better than before. They even had a ten foot tall vert ramp, otherwise known as the best ramp ever. We arrived early enough to where we got to truly enjoy the park before the herds of shredders rushed in. As time passed, the park flooded with people. It was awesome to see such a turnout. Riders from all over, as far as California in attendance. Some severe riding went down. There were way too many bad boy bikers and sick stunts to even mention. Prizes were distributed. Young Conor even took the glory in the High Air contest. It was truly a pleasure to meet so many new people, every one as stoked as the last. Wait for the video. As the action died down, we knew it was time to retreat back to the motherland. With a nice 5 hour drive ahead of us, we somehow magically fit everything back into the car and headed home.

Rain, sleet or snow, no matter the destination, as long as the bikes stay strapped to the top of Zach’s trusty Civic we’re guaranteed a good time. Nothing can hold us down. Another solid trip in the books. Huge thanks to Conor for housing us, TK for putting on an awesome jam, Burden, Talem, Lofton, all the locals, Guerra, Ezra, Paranormal Activity, Ben and Jerry’s, Margaritas, and everything else. On to the next one.
